The North American Menopause Society (NAMS) is North America’s leading nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the health and quality of life of all women during midlife and beyond through an understanding of menopause and healthy aging. The Society was founded in 1989 and is the definitive resource for healthcare issues relating to menopause.
Over 2,000 professionals representing a variety of disciplines, including clinical and basic science experts from medicine, nursing, pharmacy, anthropology, sociology, psychology and complementary/alternative medicine, make NAMS uniquely qualified to serve as the definitive resource for health professionals and the public for accurate unbiased information about menopause.
As the definitive resource, NAMS created a competency examination for healthcare providers to demonstrate their expertise, which leads to the NAMS certified menopause practitioner (NCMP) certification. To maintain this prestigious certification providers must earn appropriate continuing education credits every three years.
Harbour Women’s Health is proud to have two of our providers become certified through the NAMS organization. Mark Chag, MD, NCMP and Margot Kingston, MSN, ANP-BC, WHNP-BC, NCMP have both been certified through this nationally-recognized organization. They are among the small number of providers located on the Seacoast to hold this distinct certification. Margot was one of the first providers to take the exam when it was initially offered and has been certified since 2002, while Dr. Chag has been certified since 2006.
