Quality Standards

Providing progressive, exceptional health care is at the core of our practice. With a focus on continuous improvement, our team is proud to demonstrate our dedication to excellence by pursuing and maintaining industry quality standards.

In 2006, Harbour Women’s Health obtained national certification through the Fetal Medicine Foundation to perform nuchal translucency (NT) screening. This is a specific ultrasound evaluation done to increase the precision of prenatal detection of Down Syndrome. Certification follows an involved evaluation of a practice’s ability to obtain this measurement precisely and reproducibly. It also requires ongoing participation in a quality assurance process to monitor the accuracy provided.

The American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology recommends that any provider performing NT screening should have a QA monitoring program, as this is crucial to the accuracy of the overall Down Syndrome screening process. We are the only location in Portsmouth to have this monitoring program, and we remain proudly committed to our efforts and expertise in this field.
